My knee has started clicking after I've been walking for a while, generally starts going uphill. Is this a precursor to something going wrong with it?

No not necessarily.....it can "click on" merrily without causing any problems or needing treatment.

However, if the knee "locks" or "let's you down" or begins to become painful or indeed to swell up, then you should seek medical advice.
My knees click all the time, especially going up stairs. I ignore it unless there are signs of something like pain, heat and swelling. They have felt more gritty inside though recently. Is it painful?

And thanks Jenna, no pain, just clicking that comes and goes.
sounds like cartilege. You may like to get a one off appointment with a physio to get advice on keeping the muscles that work and support the knee strong to keep it going for longer.
