I carry two epi pens and have had two very bad reactions. For some reason, at the same time, I also developed an intolerance to any food that is in the same family as a peanut. This includes corn and peas and anything that is or was a bean. The allergy and the intolerance are quite different.
To anyone who has the need for an Epi-Pen:
Ask your doctor to prescribe an Ana-Pen, they are the same thing but MUCH easier to administer. We had to change to these for my youngest daughter after her sister tried to inject her during an anaphylaxis episode and ended up with the Epi-Pen the wrong way up, she embedded the needle into the bone of her own thumb.
Ana-Pens don't require any force, you just put the pen against your thigh and press a button which releases the needle under pressure to inject the epinephrine.
