Girlfriend sliced finger openly recently (approx5/6 weeks ago) just below the first joint (right index finger). She is still complaining of having no feeling in the tip of the finger even though the wound itself has healed. Any idea how long before the feeling will come back?

It all depends upon the distance between the two cut edges....the greater the distance, the longer it will take....the shorter the distance.......etc.
nerves regenerate at about 1mm/day providing that the covering (perineurium) is still intact.

5/6 weeks........no big deal....plenty of time for sensation to return.

HOWEVER....if the gap is wide and perineurium totally cut, then the sensation may NEVER return.

From the description that you have given....my bet would be on regeneration within the next 5 weeks.
