Arthritis in hips?
19 Answers
I've been mainly affected in my hands, knees and feet/ankles before now though have more recently been getting more and worse pain in my wrists and it's now started in my hips. I have been flaring, probably as now off steroids and ony started methotrexate on Friday.
With RA can it just suddenly start attacking other parts like that? I'm wondering if it is that or could just be some other kind of mechanical pain say if I've aggravated it somehow. The hip pain (both sides on the outer sides of my hip) has been bad the last few days, increasing and making it uncomfortable to walk or sit and get into a comfortable position to sleep (I've thankfully managed to get myself to sleep on my back after years of only being able to sleep on my side).
My knees have been really bad so I wondered if I could have aggravated my hips from them. I've finding them getting really painful and going on me when trying to stand up straight.
I've got physio Friday and seeing rhumo nurse next week though rhumo seem to concentrate on my hands which I assume is as they are the worse and less replaceable.
Just thought I'd see if anyone had any advice/suggestions in the meantime.

It'll probably go off eventually and then travel round to some other joints and muscles to give you even more gyp :(
It's very damp today .Pea souper here and the damp really affects me .
It is painful .Just try and rest ,take some painkillers .
I think I need a squirt of WD40 :)

Aww, me too! :) I've never had problems with my hips before!
My hands don't like rain - makes them swell up more, never understood why! They get really sensitive to heat too and they burn in the shower sometimes, usually when it's cold. Often in the winter the upper part of my hands and fingers are all red and swollen and I have to give them a while before they are useable.
I've been taking my codydramol to try and calm it down. At least the pregabalin is good, really made a difference with sensitivity to pain generally and muscle pain with the fibro :) It does make me a bit fuzzy though better as I've got more used to it (started off like drunk haha) but compared to the pain it's alright by me.

It's cruel isn't it :(
I will :) I'm loving my knitting, really nice and relaxing and nice to take with me when I'm out having a coffee as that's my main social life at the moment :) It's an unexpected talking point with people though, been chatted up by a couple of cute guys coming and asking me about it which was a bit random! When my hands are behaving I've been doing some Hallowe'en hats for my nephews and want to start on some Christmas knitting and getting in some stuff for the premature baby unit.
I discovered Hobbycraft recently! I was in there for ages!

I have had to try and shush myself up when on file hunts though. It's down long shelves and I tend to let out an "oooh" kind of noise or similar when my knees do that painful giving way thing then often think how that might sound with random noises coming from shelves of files so inevitaby end up stifling a giggle, they must have me down as a nutter :) You've got to have a bit of a sense of humour about it though don't you :) xxx
Hi bednobs, so it could be the RA then? I've been what can best be described as waddling about slowly today. It is following a suspiciously RA like pattern though, wires earlier then eases a bit, worse after being immobile. Stairs are an issue. At least I have physio Friday and rhumo nurse Monday. My wrists are hurting and hands flaring and knees bad too so all flarey and had the crap fluey feeling over the weekend but at least I can sleep then. I might try a cushion at work, my manager said I was looking forlorn waddling about earlier, just so hard to get comfortable.
Have you tried that new drug yet? I forwarded the link to a workmate whose partner has bad RA to show her.

I think it depends on how soon you start taking the ACV.
I once read that uric acid in the blood deposits crystals in the various joints and these crystals wear away the cartilage like sandpaper until you are left with bone rubbing against bone.
Apple Cider vinegar will dissolve egg shells and it is believed that it will dissolve the crystals in the joints. It takes time to do it's job and therefore the ACV must be taken as soon as the arthritis is felt. It's no use waiting until bone is rubbing bone, it's too late then.
I got a twinge of pain in a knee almost 30 years ago and started taking liquid ACV but later discovered the ACV tablets which are much simpler to take. I take 3 tablets twice per week and my joints are still pain free.
It's quite possible that I never had arthritis in the first place but I still take them just in case.

yes....bits do flare up and cool off at any point....but if your knees are quite bad, this will almost certainly affect your gait and result in referred pain elsewhere. i would make sure you rest as much as possible, keep warm, have soaks in the bath, take your meds religiously, pamper yourself if able to (inc. a massage, accupuncture etc.) and go back to your dr if necessary. i have pain in exactly the same place as you, so i do sympathise. when mine is really bad, i just tend to hibernate and can only cope with work and sleep....nothing else. i hope things get a little better for you. lisa x
Thank you x It's crap isn't it :( I don't usually have this level of pain and stiffness and it's in newer places. It's usually my hands and knees which suffer and ankles a bit but this is full on with the hips and my wrists have got really painful and and shoulders are really stiff. Quite limited in movement so been waddling about (probably looking really grumpy!).
Been good though, had a massage Saturday after physio on Thursday (and bloods Friday - I so need to get out more!)had a nice radox bath oil and salts bath last night and then curled up with the heating on. Curled up now under a blanket on the sofa with the cat, tubigrips on and making sure I have an early night.
