I was 34 weeks pregnant last weekend and had a small bleed sat am.
We went to hospital and was in for 3 days having baby monitored. Baby absolutely fine, lots of strong movements and heartbeat all good too.
Had another bleed late sat night and nothing since. Have had a scan and placenta is fine and I feel fine too, had no pain with any of he bleeding either.
Im now home resting but feels bit like a waiting game if anything more will happen and just want to get to our due date without any more problems.
Drs have said if they had to delivery early they could and have been given steroid injections just in case.
Just wondered if anyone else had had any bleeds this far into pregnancy and what it turned out to be?
Reading up on it, the only info I really found was placenta abruption, but that has greater blood loss and pain which I didn't have, or placenta previa which again I don't have either.
Thanks x

34 weeks and having small bleeds with a scan excluding placenta preavia does not add up to a big deal.

It is now a matter of waiting until you go into labour.
I had severe bleeding at 29 weeks. It was coming out like I was wetting myself. Rushed to hospital (this was night time) and they checked for a heartbeat, found one. Next day I was sent for scans and everything was fine. They said the blood is coming from the womb but baby and placenta are okay. I was kept in for 5 days. Had another bleed a week later, kept in for 2 days. Had another bleed and stayed home. He arrived 3 weeks early weighing 7lb 4oz.

The consultant said to me the next day that had I been 30 weeks he would have delivered by emergency caesarian.
I know a couple of people that bled late in pregnancy and went on to have a problem free birth and happy, healthy babies! Can't remember now what the exact problem was as the outcomes were fine.
I was also given the steroids.

I didn't have any pain whatsoever.
Stop googling for possibilities. You'll only raise your own blood pressure.
i bled late in both of my last 2 pregnancies - my cervix was opening with my son, and he came at 27 weeks, and with my daughter i went into labour after a bleed at 30 weeks

Thanks all for your comments, reassuring to know that it is perhaps more common than I thought and doesn't always mean the worse. I guess having a straightforward pregnancy so far any little hiccup just makes me panic! X
hey cc, i bet you can't wait to meet the baby - he/she has been so long coming :)

Bednobs...indeed, have been waiting for this baby for nearly 3 years so with just a few weeks to go doesn't seem real yet! :-)

Back in hospital again, another small bleed last night so being monitored again. They don't think it's anything serious but keeping an eye on things....
good luck

Thanks bednobs :-) Home again now, just waiting game and if I have any further bleeds I have to go back in. Baby is doing fine though which is good news.
the monitoring results should have put your mind at rest!

any further worries, go back!

Yes monitoring has been very reassuring though once I leave hospital I just have to go on instinct. As it happens I came back into hospital last night as another bleed so being monitored once more...
So you're about 36 weeks now?
Question Author
Yes ummmm, Im 35+ 4 now so getting there!
You're in the safe zone so try not to worry. I was 36+4 when I had my little one. Look at his weight!!

I'm happier as we're this far along but just worry what damage the bleeds I'll cause in he meantime. I know it's best for baby to stay in as long as possible but on the other hand if they deliver a little early it will stop me worrying every day if I'm going to bleed again or not!
Like I said, I had serious bleeding and he arrived perfect.
My daughter is 3 and a half weeks old and I had heavy bleeding in my 38th and 39th week and was very worried like you. I was kept in hospital both times and was told it was my cervix softening ready for labour. The staff didn't seem concerned so I think it is fairly normal, although quite scary for you. Try not to worry but definitely ring the hospital every time it happens.

I just wanted to go into labour as it is horrible waiting and worrying but everything was fine with me and my daughter.

All the best.
