Hello all.

As the title suggests which is the best kind of diet to do please?

If you count the calories per day for a male (2,500) and a female (2,000), they say if you go under those amounts you should lose weight. But sometimes there are foods that are low in calories but high in fat.

The same applies to fatty foods that maybe low in fat but high in calories.

Which is the best diet only to lose around half a stone or so please?

Thanks,

Merton, surely food high in fat will by its very nature be high in calories. I would love to know which ones are not!

I thought that but somebody told me that wasn't always the case....

.....maybe I have miss informed????
Fat is high in calories anyway, plus we eat too much saturated fat anyway. So reducing fat helps you stay under the daily limit. If you stay under whilst eating a lot of fat, well bully for you. Ultimately the main driver is the amount of energy you take in (compared to how much you expend). But try not to think in terms of faddy diets but in terms of healthy permanent diets.
every 1gram of fat is 9 calories. and should make up less than 30% of your diet.
low carb is the best

hi merton -I would go look at the Weight Watchers on line website. They do all the calculations for you and you can convert your own recipes or favourites to points. I've lost 4lbs the first week and been able to have a few treats -half a stone should come off no problem! Good Luck!
Oh -was this just another 'fishing' post? ...annoying......
Mags, it was an advert, quite interesting but then it went into a sales pitch for their food bars. Ed's about and on the ball, he's on the other thread.

Thanks for all your comments, apart from the phishing/advert. I have been keeping an eye on my calorie content and the weight is coming off!

Just got to reduce the belly shape. Eventhough the weight is going the shape of my belly doesn't! grrrhh!!
