what's the best thing to take for a bad stomach? I woke up this morning with really bad stomach cramps. Not lady problems but like a dodgy stomach. Perhaps it was the tuna from yesterday. I have ibuprofen, paracetamol or codine?

have you eaten? I would take Andrews. I wouldn't touch ibuprofen on an empty stomach.

for crampy digestion, peppermint is better than painkillers IMO

Haven't eaten yet. It's whirring away. I'll pop to the chemist now. Thanks :-)
woofgang, it's beyond peppermint I think.
I get stomach cramps but I always have my wonderful Colofac tablets at the ready but it depends if it a tummy bug or not - if so, best to take correct medication like Imodium especially if you have diarrhoea too.

Last time I took imodium it messed me up for weeks. Right. I am off out now. Is it just called Andrews?
Andrew's liver salts..
Question Author
Just had a glass with it in. Can't believe I haven't discovered this before now. It says on the tub that it can be used for excess acid which is something I suffer with on a daily basis. Thanks all.
Be careful with it. It also acts as a laxative.

Next time you go to the supermarket get their own brand. Fraction of the price and the same ingredients :-)

I have Morrisons 'health salts'
Question Author
I had a glass with one spoonful. I never realised this could be used for so many things. For some reason I always though Andrews was for hangovers. Must be thinking of something else. Thanks for the heads up. I'll get some on my next shop.
ASDA do one too....
My father always took Andrews Liver Salts onc a week and so we always had a tin in our bathroom in the 40s. When my sisters and I cam home from school, we used to wet our fingers under the tap and dip them in it, because it fizzed and was an acceptable substitue for sherbet during the war! He never noticed - so far as I know!
I often find that a glass of tonic water does the trick
