hi marvel - does anyone know how she is and how she is coping?
I don't she posted a joke a while back, but I haven't heard how she is. It must be very painful for her. I hope she can rest to help with her recovery.
has she been under the weather?

hope things are improving, starbie....
She had a fall and cracked two ribs.
Broken ribs ouch, she is around.
just picked up on that....

ouch, it's a question of tough it out, other than pain relief. I broke two playing rugby, right before Christmas one year, and anybody cracking jokes (no pun intended) was bloody agony...and coughing too.
Oh, I didn't know. I am sorry. Hope you feel better soon, Starone. x
My OH and sister both said sneezing was the worst.
I'm glad to see you used the word "both," marval - I was getting quite worried for a sec, there...
Hello lady-j and marval. Thanks for your concern. I am all right as long as I don't try to move about too much. Getting up from my bed or chair is very difficult, grunting and groaning all the time. Not much good with pain!! My daughter came today to take me to weight watchers, but it was very difficult. She had to put my shoes on for me because for some reason bending seems to drag my ribs down, very painful. The doctor has given me some very strong pain killers and they do work, I'm glad to say. I am ignoring any housework for the time being I shall have to catch up with it later on. Doc also said it would get worse before it gets better - Urgh!! - don't think much of that - and it will probably be about six weeks before it goes completely. However, when I feel really depressed I think of all the other people with far worse than I have so I shall have to shut up and get on with it. However, wish you did live near because I could do with a bit of cossetting and you would wish you didn't because I would take advantage of you and you would get fed up with me!! Never mind, a visit to AB and the jokes section and Chatterbank always cheers me up.
Thanks also to all the others who have posted while I was typing that great screed!!
I am pleased you are getting on alright Star, it is not a nice thing to happen. Just take it easy and if the housework doesn't get done, the world wont come to an end. Resting is the best thing to do, I am glad you have your daughter around. Take care of yourself. xx
The housework can wait. If it takes time for a full recovery take it easy during that time.
do you know any ABers near you, starby? Perhaps they may consider dropping in?
I would if I knew where she lived and was near her.

thank you getting back to us and letting us know how you are. no, i don't think you would take advantage of any of us if only we could help. i only suggested that you might find it easier to sleep upright because then you would not be putting any stress on your upper body getting into an upright position. i know i found it much easier when i hurt my arm.

if you feel like tit hrow away email address is happy.soul@fsmail.net

glad to know your daughter is around to help. is there anyone else who can do odd jobs for you? or keep you company on a cheering up front?
I will try propping myself up with pillows tonight lady-j. As you say, it might help, especially with getting out of bed - and into it is quite difficult too. But like all things, it will pass. In the meantime it is very nice to know I have such support from you all. It has made me feel better right away.

if you feel like it perhaps you would let us know how you are getting on.
Thanks all, I'm off to bed now to try out lady-j's suggestion. One of the things that is annoying me is it is curtailing my reading in bed!
