Pressure Sore..
14 Answers
My mother in law has one on her bottom, she is at her cancer unit in 2 days time where I'm sure they will help. But until then should she use sudocrem or savlon? She says its like a blister so we are assuming its a bed sore as she has sat in a chair for over a year she only moves for the loo or to go to bed. TIA ..

if it looks like a blister it could be a friction blister, often seen in the elderly, unlikely to be a pressure sore as she is able to get up and move, just getting up and moving will usually prevent pressure sores. When applying any cream to a suspected pressure sore, be very careful not to massage it, but to just rub the cream very lightly on to the skin, massaging a pressure sore can do a lot of damage. You should immediately inform a GP if you suspect a pressure sore, remember that the damage is done on the inide, if you are seeing damage on the outside, it is far worse on the inside!
Ratter, Rowan and gina Thank you all for your replies, I have'nt seen it but she will (I hope) tell the cancer unit tomorrow. We can't get her to change positions or move out the bl00dy chair so I hope they give her some sort of cushion. Her weight is normal but not for long as she eats and drinks very little. thanks again..
