Simple Linctus Help Please

The Nurse Practitioner at my surgery prescribed "Simple Linctus" for my ongoing catarrh today.

I know she said to take the dose in hot water to break up the mucus but the bottle instruction say to take 1 5ml spoonful 4 times a day.

Did I hear wrong, or is the latter method another way to do the job? Please

Hot water will make the fumes from the linctus waft around your sinusses.

I am amazed this linctus looks like water and has barely any taste at all. Prescribed from my surgery, but looked it up online and see its on sale in Lloyds Chemist at 89p....cough medicines are an awful price these days so wonder why this isn't more widely known?

probbaly because it doesn't work ... along with all other cough medicines
