When I stand up I have a linmp under the skin just where my belly button starts. It is about an inch and a half and quite firm to the souch. When I move my stomach (which is very flabby:( ) it stays put.

It sort of aches especially if I eat.

Any ideas?

Thanks

hernia, ?
Hernia?
You'd be better going to your GP and get his professional opinion.
snap..........
Consult a doctor?
Question Author
I was going to call th4e doctor in the morning but hernia sounds right I suppose.

At the moment if I stand up I have to stoop to lessen the discomfort.
cassa, im not a doctor,
Nor am I. Could you call NHS direct and talk with them?
In my experience, NHS Direct is a complete waste of time. Go and see your GP.
NHS Direct don`t exist anymore. It`s the 111 service and they are even less knowledgeable than NHS Direct. Don`t waste your time.

I intended (and still do lol) in calling them in the morning. They will then give me an appointment for a telephone consultation (within 5 days) and then should it be needed, an appointment with the doctor for about three weeks time.

This of course is progress from the days when yuo could just walk into the Drs and wait (admittedly a couple of hours) and see one that day.
I agree cassa, its called progress ? :(
Cassa that's a dreadful service. Where do you live?
Question Author
Southern end of East Hants.

Time will tell if the new CCG is better than the old pct!
Are you sure you can`t see someone on the day? I can understand that you might get an advance appointment with the doctor of your choice with a wait of a couple of weeks or so but there must be some sort of appointments on the day service, surely?
Where I live you can see a doc the next day. If you want a particular doc you may have to wait a few days.
Don't panic.....if you need to see a GP to reassure yourself, then a routine appt is all that is necessary.

It is almost certainly an umbilical hernia containing fat.
Annieasquith, isn't it good to see our diagnosis confirmed by a 3rd opinion?
If my friend needs an appointment and is told that it is in three weeks time she tells them she can't even get out of bed and needs a doctor to visit. Miraculously they always find a cancellation to fit her in?
sandy................im cock a hoop :)
