Back's Gone Again!........
27 Answers
My backs's gone again. phoned the doc to ask advice whether to go and see a Chiropractor or Osteopath and was told that neither was any good for my condition.
He said he can prescribe me some painkillers but I said I've still got some left over from last time.
He then said he can refer me to the Physio at the local hospital but it'll take up to six weeks, I told him last time that happened by the time I got to see the Physio my back was okay and all they did was book me into a Pilates class.
Pretty pissed off now as every time my back goes it lasts about a week and nothing seems to get done about it
Any suggestions please?

My daughter gave him some movelat gel , she has slight curvature of the spine and needs to use it often, apparently it does help my son alot. she gets it on prescription under the name salicylic 2%mucopol ysacco (I've got a tube here that I used a few months ago) . Not sure if it can be bought. deep heat and ibuleve gel didn;t touch my son's pain.
Depends how much you trust your GP.
If I thought he/she was good with backs, I'd take their advice.
If I wasn't so sure, I'd cough up for a session with an osteopath. Preferrably one I'd had recommended to me.
Meanwhile, take the painkillers as prescribed, do not wait until the pain is so bad tou have to take them. Keep moving about as much as you can..but gently.
Good luck.

I had 3 bulging discs Elvis and had a microdisectomy in May as one disc was pushing severely on a nerve. I have been so lucky that I have been dealt with so quickly because a lot of people I have spoken to with the same have had problems for anything up to 2 years before they were referred! From my first physio session in February he told me I was prob headed for surgery and I was nowhere near as bad then at that point. I have a fairly physical job and carried on until easter when the pain got so bad I had to take sick leave and was virtually bed bound popping pills that only just took the edge off.
Anyone who says 'oh I have that but am too scared to go thru with the surgery' believe me can't have it bad because the pain is so terrible you would do anything to just relieve it nevermind stop it. I was in tears nearly everday with the pain (& that was dosed up to the max)
Good luck Elvis, I hope you get it sorted.

Hi Wingnut, just read your thread about your discs, when I went for my MRI scan the results were ......"Wear and tear on the lower spine, Degenerative disc prolapse and 3 discs bulging", that's when the doc referred me to the Physio but by the time I got to see them my back was ok and they enrolled me in the Pilates class.
I'm just wary of going to see someone off the cuff just incase they do more damage than good, if that makes sense?
