Casualty - And A Really Really Really Small Point

IN last nights Casualty the storyline about the three children living together when Mum had passed away. Youngest was 'Home Alone' and supposedly affected by carbon monoxide poisoning from faulty boiler.

When Dixie/Jeff went in the house the lights didn't work - can we assume for non payment of electric bill?

If so then surely the boiler wouldn't work as there is no electric to it!!!!

[I know really really nit picking and, yes, I must get out more - but these things annoy me]

Putter. Mic and I both suffered C/M poisoning a couple of years back. The boiler was not on, nor had been on for a couple of months. Electricity has nothing to do with it.

Maybe the fusebox tripped and they didn't know how to fix it.

Just watched the recorded episode from last night and, yes you're possibly right but also, you should get out more! lol

May I also add, According to the fire brigade the boiler just needs to be there. Look after it or it can kill you. We were fortunate that we bought a C/M alarm after those little children were killed in one of the Greek Islands (can't remember which one).

Jeza - Sorry to hear of the C/M trouble you had - a close friend was taken into hospital last year with all the symptoms. Boiler checked out OK and all they could put it down to is that she hated electric lights so used lots (and I mean lots) of tea-light candles. Since she stopped no further problems.

However the programme did show the boiler on (blue flame in the right place) and smoke effects coming out of the top - and I know CO is colourless.

Quoting from the BritishGas website '

"All appliances that burn wood or fossil fuels can emit Carbon monoxide.
Carbon Monoxide is produced when these fuels are burned without sufficient air."

It appears burning IS required.

I thought the episode would end with one of the 'lover' doctors dying. It normally happens when someone has found love at last. Also the attractive prison governor fancying Dixie? I think not!

I don't think electricity is needed for the pilot light only.
