feel very poorly, dizzy, had a little spotting (after scan midwife says nothing to worry about as baby is fine) and terrible pains at bottom of tummy...so now been told to take it easy for a few days by midwife. Only had 1 sick day a couple of weeks ago (hate doing this) then worked constantly for the rest of the time. As some of you know i only work mornings, so glad for that.

I phoned in sick again today as was still feeling very poorly and with the spotting/bleed i just feel drained. The sickness seems to be getting worse, not better. I feel scared to be phoning in sick, and more scared if i don't rest. I am getting so stressed now, i'm worried my employer might get annoyed with me. GP says i shouldn't be worried, baby comes first. Why do i feel so guilty?.

Because you have good work ethics.

Listen to your GP, baby comes first.

I was sick through the whole of my first pregnancy. It's pot luck...

Good luck x

Aww thank you ummmm
Sorry to hear you are feeling so poorly. Try not to worry, x
Yes, look after your baby first. I felt really drained for the first twelve weeks, like I'd been drugged. It disappeared very quickly then. Hope it does for you too.
There's not a job in the world that's worth risking a baby for and any employer worth his salt will realise that. Take care and I hope all goes well for you.

Just hope they don't sack me or take away my mat leave?? I am good member of staff so i have been told and don't take me wrong, they have been so supportive with me being pregnant.
Sometimes sickness is really bad. I know I am old, but I remember actually sitting on the kerb at the side of the road when I was pregnant and feeling so ill I did not care if other people stared. They didn't - they were concerned, which made me feel even worse. If you are spotting and feeling ill then do as you have been told - it is you and your baby that are important, not work.
Congratulations phleb, take good care xx
They aren't allowed to sack you for maternity related illness (I think)

Oh the worse thing is (i cannot believe i am putting this on ab) when i'm being sick i sometimes wet myself and then i feel so upset, i never was like this with the other 2. Oh whoever said we leave our dignity behind when we have babies was so right :-)
They really shouldn't, especially for pregnancy related problems. I'm guessing you have a very good sick record so far and sound loyal. Have an honest chat with your boss and see if he/she can reassure you.
Your body is telling you what to do so listen to it. Put your feet up, rest and don't feel guilty about protecting the life you are creating. Try sipping american dry ginger or ginger beer and if you can keep them down nibble on digestive biscuits or wholemeal toast. Forget about your job baby comes fist second and third.
That's quite normal :-)

I found when I was sick there was so much heaving involved. It's not like getting sick normally.
Sorry you're feeling unwell phleb. You must take notice of your GP. Rest and get your feet up try to avoid any stressful situations now. Don't worry about seeing your GP again if you are still feeling unwell. Don't feel guilty and don't be scared of anything, you may be a good worker but you and your baby comes first now. If your employer is a decent one they will understand.
