Low Blood Pressure

My blood pressure this morning was 72 over 48 with pulse 114, what I want to know is, why my pulse is racing away when the blood pressure is so low, I often have low blood pressure, but not as low as this, but when I go to the Doctor it is always high, my machine is checked often at the surgery and is not faulty, is sqad about?

My first reaction is to ask if you are taking any medication.
My second is to say that if you feel well, then don't worry, particularly as your Dr doesn't seem to be concerned.

Are you sure you've taken it correctly? And are you on aspirin or warfarin? Low BP and high pulse can be a sign of internal bleeding.

At a guess I'd expect low blood pressure to deliver resources to the body at a lower rate then if there were more blood per volume. So might it not be the body has twigged there is an issue with delivery and getting the system to pump more, faster ? Feedback loop stuff. I'm probably way off, but it seems reasonable to me anyway.

Thanks for all your answers, it happened again this morning, 75 over 48 pulse 114 I will definitely phone the Doctor on Tuesday morning, why do these things always seem to happen when there is no surgery? I do feel dizzy at other times in the day but not so low as this, yes I do take aspirin.

Low blood pressure can make you feel dizzy. I would try to get an appointment asap. You should have an out-of-hours number too? So ring them if you're feeling very bad x

You haven't really answered my question, as to are you on any tablets to LOWER your BP. I say that because you have told us that when your GPtakes your BP it is high.

Sorry sqad, no I am not on anything to lower blood pressure, just aspirin (angina) and atorvastatin.

Cecil...;-) thanks. Will be interested to see what your GP says, but I bet that your BP is normal in the Gp's surgery.

Older folk tend to feel a bit dizzy after the get up too quickly. This is, I believe, known as postural hypotension. The BP can drop quite a bit according to Mrs. who gets it.
