An elderly man almost looked dead in the car and myself and a friend called an ambulance and the 999 operator told us to break the window in case CPR was needed.
The man was breathing but it was concluded he was in a deep sleep.
The insurance company has now sent me the bill for the window.
Am I obliged to pay it..

Are they aware of the circumstances?
The 999 operator will have a recording of the call, if you need it for evidence.
I don't imagine they'll be taking you to court. I definitely wouldn't pay.
If I was going to have a nap in my car I would lock myself in too.

We knocked on the window several times. The man had his feet by the pedals and slumped to the left over the passenger seat which seemed odd as my friend knew the car had reclining seats. She has the same type of car.
My friend also noticed the hand brake was off which was not wise even though the car was parked on the level.
We did push the car to confirm it.
Why did you need to push the car? What difference did that make?
Tell them to take it up with the Emergency Services, as you acted on their instructions.
No. The insured person himself, whether the man or another person, wouldn't have a claim against you, so the insurer hasn't.
No Jane you are not obliged to pay return the letter with your explanation; remember the Insurance Company is relying on what they have been told.
agree freddie of course

should you enter into correspondence ?
yes - but explain the circs

how did they get your name and address ?

I was involved in a pretend-fainter
and..... identified the condition [she had pretended to faint ...... ]
and the Police said I need your name and address and I said I dont need to tell you.. and he said I have to record it
and I said.... no you dont

and exactly a week later went back to the pub (!)

abd the publican's wife said ; oh she does this every week we just wondered what you would do

and I said I hate it when people say this {because it makes it less likely samaritans will help - )

and so when I fell over (thirty y later) and someone pulled a pram over me (the child in the pram was not injured or in any way harmed)
I felt (while the waves of agony washed over me) like shouting
I know you think this is a honey-pot.....

No favour goes unpunished
the gent in question ought to be grateful that you acted in his best interests...so therefore he should get his insurance to squash any charges they are trying to make against you..
peter, as ever, i completely fail to understand what you are talking about :)
however, no-one need worry themselves too much - this poster is a well-known maker-uperer of posts (and usernames) so i would imagine it's not true
...and has already been sussed .
I suspected that too bednobs, hence my question as it seemed a little odd that they had tried to move the car.

oh dammit I hate it when people do this

why don't they flag it - and then I wouldn't bother to think about the damn thing
How do people tell a duff question ?
There has to be a pattern....

It's difficult, P-P. I have flagged these before (and have always been right) but have often received criticism (understandably) for flagging a concern by commenting on the thread so I just report them now unless bednobs or someone steps in first. Bednobs and I don't want I do get annoyed though when I can see helpful remember bending over backwards to help this poster but I suppose the answers may be useful to someone one day.
Bednobs and I know this poster instantly,P-P. I don't want to go into how we know. Ed will have the final say as always
lol you make it sound like a secret plot FF! i also just report them now (although i have to admit i thought they'd rolled over and gone to sleep as i haven't seen them for aaaaaaaaaaaaaaages)
FF all I can say is well done
