I have painful abdominal bloating, which I've had for about a week now.
It hasn't affected my bowel movements.
I'm getting a bit of lower back pain too.

I haven't gone to the GP yet, as I'm hoping it would go away.

Does anyone know what it could be?

is it related to eating fatty food ?

I don't think so. I've been eating quite well, apart from a few small chocs. It seemed to have come on all if a sudden
any change in colour to your poo or urine ?
Wheat intolerance? Is it worse at any particular time of day?
The lower back pain may suggest a kidney infection. If it persists you should get your urine checked.
I think the lower back pain is more likely linked to the bloating. Ibs or intolerance, i would guess.

No change to my poo and my urine seems normal. Quite clear.

I was thinking of a food intolerance, but I haven't eaten anything that I haven't had before.
The pain is there all day. Today it disappeared for an hour before it came back again. I was feeling a bit sick a few days ago, but the feeling went after about an hour
no harm in seeing gp.
Intolerances can come and go. It sounds very similar to what i had about 3 years ago, also with some abdominal pain. It turned out, randomly to be a wheat intolerance. I avoided it for about a year and it went completely. Gradually reintroduced it and fine since.
Have you tried any simple remedies? I get IBS and find that mint tea drunk as hot as possible helps. If you've never had anything like it before then I would be going to the GP next week to be on the safe side. In the mean time, as well as the mint tea, you could try colpermin, which is very strong mint oil in a capsule so it doesn't dissolve until it reaches your bowel, and Buscopan which is a small dose of hyoscine which relaxes muscles generally. It can make you sleepy so be careful if you take it and start with the smallest dose. Usual warnings, do not take the advice if you are sensitive to mint or hyoscine, read and follow the instructions on the packet.

Yea, think I will have to next week if it continues.
I was hoping it would disappear as quickly as it came on

My husband reckons it could be an intolerance too. I guess I will have to get it checked out.
I haven't tried anything yet. Was just hoping it would go away. It's horrible having the bloating and back pain together :-(
I will try the hot mint tea.
Are you worried or stressed about something? I tend to suffer with stomach/bowel problems when I am stressed.

I would try an over the counter remedy as has already been suggested, and if that doesn't help, go to your GP. Rennie Deflatine is pretty good at getting rid of trapped wind. Try getting some exercise too, such as a long walk.

Another thing I've been feeling is extremely tired

I haven't been worried about anything, I don't think!

I don't have a day off until Wednesday, so I might pay a visit to a chemist first on Monday and get something. If it's still there by the time I'm off on wed, I'll see what the go says.

Just so weird as I've not experienced anything like this before
If you think it could be an intolerance, keep a food diary and write down everything you eat and drink, and when you get the pains. Intolerances can take 24-48 hours to show any symptoms I believe.
Question Author
I've kept a food diary of everything I've eaten since last Friday (painful bloating started Sunday). But because the pain has been constant, I don't know what could be triggering it off
It can be very difficult to tell. An intolerance can cause pain within minutes of eating it, but also stay in your body for 2 weeks- so it could be pretty much anything. You can have a blood test for coeliac, but everything else is trial and error. No harm in seeing your doctor.

Could it be a post ovulation symptom?
I've been keeping track of my cycle for the last 4 months because of irregular periods and for the first time last week (in the four months) I ovulated.
Is the pain uterus or stomach? It could be that hormones aren't helping.
