Results just back (comfortably before sqad's prediction of 'Christmas') - "no lesions or evidence of any other lung or heart problems".

Which does still leave the "Why the **** am I coughing so much" question.

GP thinks that it's not an infection (been going on too long without either getting better or going critical) - so first idea is to break the cycle of inflammation with some high dose steroids for a few days.

All in all, though, I'm a lot less worried than I was an hour ago :+)

Dave, that's good news, and one problem eliminated. Onwards and upwards!
Really pleased to hear that, sd. The important thing is to rule out anything major and go from there. Best wishes with treatment xx
Happy news, Dave....hope the steroids work for you....x
Good news Dave.....do you have an allergy to something ? When I presented cold symptoms that just wouldn't go doc gave me antihistamines which stopped it all . Still don't know what I am allergic to but continue to take the tablets. I think I'm allergic to him indoors ! Lol....hope you get to grips with it very soon..xxx
When OH had a persistent cough, our lovely GP told him it would go when he stopped using the air-con in the car!

Great news dave.
Try anti-histamine, if you haven't already. That will tell you if it's an allergy.
Fantastic news about the x-ray, dave!

I hope the steroids do the trick and you shift the cough.

Well played "cobber"..are you taking the steroids by tablet or inhaler.......the latter is better.
