For many years now I have suffered from very high blood pressure and have been on Ramipril and Synvastatin to reduce it, When I went to my local GP here in Wales to register he wanted to do a check-up on me and a bit of an MOT, he was surprised to see I was on BP tablets as my BP was normal. I have now completed a 24 hour BP monitoring session and going by those results it looks like I can come off my medication, I'm just waiting until next week for a final decision. Don't ask my BP's as I can never remember things like that, I just know it has gone from dangerously high to normal in 4 months.

The move to Wales seems to be paying off in health benefits already! So now that my meds are completely free I can stop taking them lol.

I aint complaining :-)

You dont believe Sqad?, mmmmm!
\\\\So now that my meds are completely free I can stop taking them lol. \\\

That is the bit that i don't believe, but seeing the Lol at the end of the sentence, i see that it was meant as a joke.
Question Author
Yes, just a little ironic, Ive paid for meds all this time, now that prescription meds are completely free in Wales I no longer need them.
\\\ he was surprised to see I was on BP tablets as my BP was normal. I have now completed a 24 hour BP monitoring session and going by those results it looks like I can come off my medication,\\\

Of course your BP was normal....that is the point in taking BP, to make your BP NORMAL. Your BP is normal BECAUSE you are taking the BP tablets, come off them and it will probably go up again.

I cannot understand the logic........
Question Author
lol Sqad, I havent taken my meds for a while now, I'm not great at taking any meds actually. Sorry I should have made that clear.
Ah right!
I was about to say exactly as Sqad has....but now you say you were not on your meds - well done Ratter glad the move has helped so much.
Have you lost weight recently?
Question Author
Blackiequine, I did lose weight prior to the move but have now put it all back on again. :-(

Not that then. Must be quality of life in Wales. No changes you can think of, e.g. alcohol consumption?
mmm dont move back ! it may affect your health
Question Author
Blackiequine, if anything, I am drinking more alcohol, im probably up to about 5 to 6 pints a month.
Not that either then. Won't apply for med school just yet! Good news for you & long may it continue.
id say continue on the simvastatin,
Anne - Ratter began by saying he was on meds, then changed it to the fact he has not taken them for a while.
ok, IMO as a lay person, re his age and previous high b/p id resume simvastatin, to ensure his cholesterol is under control.
Not disagreeing Anne, find the whole post a tad confusing.

Dr was surprised to see I was on BP Tablets , but wasn't taking them ??

Maybe I have misread the whole thing, if so apologies to Ratter.
mamy, you know RATTER ,probably drunk when he posted LOL :)
Question Author
Lol Anne, I cant remember the last time I was drunk, I should have said that the GP was surprised to see that I was being prescribed Ramipril and Symvastatin when reading my notes.

I know I am crap at explaining things, I have always been the same.
