Thanks for the link s.p very useful
You are welcome.
You can buy them from Pharmacists too
it is a prescription only medicine, you can't buy them over the counter
Inhaler isn't medicine though.
An inhaler is a 'medicine', you can't buy them without a prescription.
Ventolin is definitely a prescription medicine. Not OTC.
eh? Ventolin is the medicine, inhaler is the method of delivery. The original question asks about "ventolin inhaler" so i would imagine he/she was talking about the medicine
That's what I thought, bednobs - not just the inhaler mechanism.
Mic has these inhalers. Since he has been in hospital he has two at home. If anyone wants them......
My son has inhalers. You can buy a ventolin inhaler (which i think is the question). The medication can be separately prescribed. But i think she is asking about buying an inhaler for ventolin, rather than ventolin?
I just did the questionnaire on the LLoyds Pharmacy link and it placed 2 inhalers in my basket, doesn't seem right does it ?

This is an old link but...

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2176326/Supermarkets-sell-asthma-inhalers-counter-patients-prescription.html
It comes as one item, the casing, (inhaler) and the little cartridge (Ventolin)
Not available OTC.
I can't see it being a problem if the person is a confirmed asthmatic, and it's a repeat prescription - but it doesn't seem right, perhaps the questionnaire asked about original diagnosis and review meetings with the GP or respiratory nurse?

Also, people with long term conditions (in England) may not have to pay, but if you bought them OTC, they'd have to be paid for.
Wow, Mamya, I AM surprised.
On the Lloyds link, I lied about my health and said 'do not inform my GP'.
I get a private prescription for a Ventalin inhaler for Frankie - they cost about £7. This is one with the drug inside.

The steroid ones are about £70.
On a similar line, I was out a few weeks ago, and suffering Angina pains. I had brought out a different bag.
Went to Asda Pharmacy, and they issued me a Nitromin spray after confirming with my GP. (No charge)
