Does anyone have any actual experience of care homes in Worthing that offer short term (2 to 3 days) respite care to adults,
I know that there is a system of government checks but they seem to grade each care home the same, and I know from personal experience that one care agency is not very professional.
Any information would be very helpful.

I would suggest you arrange to visit any that suit your needs and see how you feel when you're there. Here (S. Bucks) they will only do Respite for a minimum of a week and get booked up months in advance. Take the person who will be going in and look around and ask any questions then.
i too think the feel of the place is important in your decision, so you must go and look. i agree with pixie that you wont get such a short respite slot, although i suppose you could poay for longer but not use it all. I used to work in care in s bucks too and homes were very variable

Thanks to you both. The thing with a week's care is that it will be about £700.00 to £1,000 which we can't afford, and my husband would never agree to that length of time. I haven't actually got him to agree to two or three days yet.
yes, that's true - but i really doubt any NH will take on someone for less than a week. Could the person be looked after at home or do they need 24h care?
Have you rung Social Services or Direct Payments? You might be entitled to have it paid for. They award about 4 weeks a year.

Thanks, will look into that.
While they are not allowed to recommend a home, what you can do is ask the social workers which home you should look at first on the list of homes that they provide, and in this way identify which one would suit his needs best.
