Hi Sqad,

I am unable to vomit. I can go through the motions and not bring a thing up snd judt wondered whst would happen if I got food poisoning or something.
\\\\ I got food poisoning or something.\\\

You would vomit........believe me.
What do you think is causing these retching bouts?
mamy....was that question to the OP or me?

If it was the latter....retching is not uncommon with bypass operations depending upon the type.
It is caused by compression of the diaphragm and lower oesophagus against a closed glottis(windpipe.)
Thanks Sqad.
When I was in hospital a while back there was a girl in the bed next to me who had had a gastric bypass/band and, believe me, she could vomit!

Thanks everyone.

I simply cannot bring anything up when I goe through the motions of vomitting. I can have a full stomach and still nothing comes up. I have even taken a glass of water and 'thrown up' imediately and nothing came back.

Most perplexing lol
I'be be more worried if you were bringing stuff back and nothing was passing through.
