Does it matter.....if you say that you are breathless, then you are breathless.

What ai think that you mean is, is there a way of testing if your breathlessness is due to a medical condition or an emotional one and the answer to that is Yes.......a doctor will tell you.
Any wheezing or coughing? Obviously a GP visit would be a good move. Breathlessness with anxiety is due to hyperventilation and that eases if you breathe in and out of a paper bag for a couple of minutes. There are other things that can cause breathlessness- heart problems, asthma, anaemia, so if the paper bag doesn't help, book an appointment x
I had a degree of breathlessness before being diagnosed with anaemia.
As others already said doctor will be your starting point to find out.
Go back to the doc if you are still worried, gordie. If you are anxious then you are possibly breathing fast and shallow (I know I used to) and this will make you feel more breathless and then more anxious - it's a bit of a vicious circle. Do you think this started about the same time as you started to worry about whether you could take your pain control at the same time as your anxiety medication?
