Can tablets to treat high blood pressure work too well? Getting up from a chair or sometimes when out walking I feel a bit dizzy. Could low BP be a cause?

Yes. OH's mother has low BP and often feels dizzy. Not saying that it's your tablets, but the last para here includes BP medication as a possible cause of dizziness.
Worthwhile getting BP rechecked in case it has fallen.
Agree mamya - my MIL stayed obediently on her tablets, only to find that her BP had become too low by using them. They've stopped now.
What tablets, what dose and how long have you been on them?

I think it's the 'usual cocktail'. Ramipril 10mg, Amlodipine 5 mg, Bisoprolol 5mg, Bendroflumethiazide 2.5mg, and Atorvastatin 10mg.
I've been on them for a considerable length of time, 4 years or more.
It's the Bisoprolol which my MIL was advised to stop.

Thank you all. Looks like another visit to the GP is called for.
Maybe the dosage of some needs adjusting. Have you lost weight recently? That can make a difference. The only way to find out is to have your BP taken by the GP.
OK, then boxy/mamys posts hit the mark.......go back to your GP as the dose may need readjusting.

However, i don't see it that way.....it is better to have a low BP than a high one and you must take it easy when getting out of bed......sit on the bed for a few moments and then stand up. As long as the bouts of dizziness are transient, when out walking, i would live with it.
give your situation another 2months to monitor the situation.

TY, all again. I have lost a bit of weight and clothes that were too tight fit again. This isn't as a result of hard dieting but rather from not drinking, cutting out pastries and biscuits and cutting down on the bread intake.
You may have more going on in your body than just high blood pressure. Vertigo, a middle ear disease, is another cause for dizziness. Have your doctor check. Also, you might just try some meditation exercises to calm you and help lower your blood pressure.
Dotty...vertigo is not a disease.
