Leukaemia Jab For Kitten?

Every time my previous cats have had leukaemia jab they have been zonked out for the rest of the day so I wasnt too keen for new fur baby to have this jab. But vet said this jab has been much improved so I let her have it done, although she was a bit miserable and unsociable afterwards, not like her at all. I presume she was in a bit of pain from injections. Afterwards I looked on web and it says leukaemia jab in cats can cause cancer. So I am wondering whether to let her have the booster next week. Cats in our garden all well cared for, no strays, should I just let her have other boosters and leave out leukaemia? Sorry to keep asking kitten questions ....

Vaccination against one cancer may cause another cancer.......that's novel.

Your cat is mainly a housecat smurfy and as such i wouldn't bother with feline leukaemia vaciination.

My cats have never reacted to injections ,but my dog had a huge lump on her neck for weeks after one time. I would still always keep my pets up to date with all these things offered. I would rather they felt a bit groggy for a day than anything serious happen to them.Never heard about leukemia jab giving cancer but being logical about all the risks I'd get it done.

If I were you I would take the risk. I know that some of the diseases that the vaccine protects against are caught from other cats, usually during a fight.

You would never forgive yourself if you didn't get her covered for leukaemia and she caught it.

I am sure that giving her protection from disease will give her a head start in life.

Missed it, Wolf. There are quite a lot of sites that mention the vaccine causing cancer, so not sure what to do. I will probably let her have the booster tomorrow.

I know that leukaemia is a blood related disease and some of the animal suffer in this disease. As your cats have this abnormalities , you should go to the doctor for good consultation.
