I have been told I have this which is ok. I was given Zovirax which helped initially but its came back as it does (its worse than it has ever been) and I'm now using Clotrimazole (Canesten) but I was wondering if there was anything else that I can try as it is getting a bit harder to eat/brush teeth and don't get me started on yawning.

I have googled it but I can't find anything that is simple to read so if anybody can recommend anything else please feel free to do so

Canesten sounds fine, but CanestenH.C would be better.

The H.C is hydrocrtisone and would reduce the pain and inflammation.

Canesten H.C should be available over the counter.

Thank you Sqad, I will see if I can get some tomorrow when I am out.

It just does my head in and I find it really unsightly. Do you know what causes it? I don't have HIV (read it online and my iron levels are fine) could stress be a factor?
Multiple causes, but in your case stress could well be a factor and of cause your diabetes can't be of much help.

I just tried to buy some canesten HC as I have this too, but the pharmacist wouldn't sell it to me as she said it isn't licensed for use on the face.
I have ordinary Canesten, and some E45 hydrocortisone 1%. Would they do the trick instead?
soapmumpty...you mean you have separate tubes and want to mix them or put a little of each on and rub it in?

Good idea.

soapmumpty....just had a thought.......don't tell the pharmacist that it is for the face...;-)

oh Calamity...but good idea sqad!
Yes I was going to put a bit of each on, or I could just lie to the pharmacist! Thanks Sqad.

My dad uses it for something else so I could maybe 'persuade' him to get one on script and send it in my direction but I know that's maybe not the best idea. I might just see if I can get an Appointment with the GP
