From my experience you can present with symptoms to two different specialists and get two very different answers. Not always black and white.

As someone who works in an Operating Theatre there is nothing that you are going to ask that will make anyone feel awkward, plus you have entire anonymity on here.
Better you get it out into the open a little here, then hopefully that'll give you the necessary information and/or courage to speak to your GP, should we feel it to be in your best interests.

OK, we've got a tiny bit of info! Firstly, don't worry too much, it's undoubtedly something very minor.
Secondly, pop along and make an appointment to see your GP(who will have seen this routinely a hundred times). If your GP is male and you feel you'll be too embarrassed, ask to see a Practice Nurse(most GP surgeries have them now) who will be able to offer pretty much the same advice and treatment as the GP.
The main thing to remember is your not the first, won't be the last and whoever you see will be professional, sympathetic and understandning.

That's not a problem, you can explain everything at the surgery, how the problem appears and disappears randomly etc and they'll examine and treat you accordingly.

If I was you, I wouldn`t bother with Answerbank or the GP - I would go straight to a walk-in GUM clinic where you will get an informed and rapid diagnosis.
