Changing Antibiotics

I was given erythromycin for a tooth infection, they gave me a upset tummy two days in so they've changed them to amoxicillin, they said it's ok to change but im just double checking. Sqad is this right please?

I have been in exactly the same circumstances for the same reason and yes it is fine to switch antibiotics

Different people react differently to different antibiotics.

After my experience with amoxicillin I wouldn't go near it again with a 20' bargepole. You may be just fine with it.

there is no evidence Jonah that people who seek 2nd opinions on AB actually act on them. There is in fact quite a lot of evidence they read the opinions and just say 'oh'.

The usual order used to be - amoxil and then if there is a reaction give erythromycin but it OK to reverse the order.

and yeah I don't see why you don't ask the opinion of strangers if you want to.

Yes it is normal to change the antibiotic during the course of cure if it is not effective or gives you side effects.

Erythromycin is not really an appropriate Anti-B for tooth infection. Amoxycillin has a broader spectrum, and will do the job.
