50yo female perimenopausal (i suspect after 4 missed periods and flashing heat light like a lighthouse) the flashes are not killing me but as I have been diagnosed and am being treated with high blood pressure (40mg Prorporanolal x 2 per day) I wonder if the heat flashes would increase my blood pressure readings, my last BP was 179/111 which I know ain't so chipper, 24 hour BP monitor test indicated no problems, Do the flushes (Flashes) affect blood pressure?

I don't know but would make an 'educated guess' that anything like that which made you feel very uncomfortable or anxious would raise your blood pressure temporarily.

High blood pressure itself can cause hot flushes so this could be making your menopausal flushes feel worse.

I don't feel so bad, just every now and then feel like i am walking into a supermarket under a hot blower for a small while, I have a cool Magicool spray for the days and have a fan at the side of the bed which catches nighttime flares. (If that is bad as it gets ....yay)
I'm sure you will be offered all manner of self help suggestions, but from personal experience and that of 50year old friends who I have recommended it to, these Sage tablets REALLY work. The are a bit pricey but they reduce the heat levels and give you back a decent night's sleep.

Of course there are other brands, just get Sage tablets from a decent health shop.
There is no evidence to suggest that "hot flushes" at the menopause have anything to do with raising your blood pressure.

Hot flushes are not a symptom of high blood pressure.
I tried sage and it didn't work for me.
I used Soya pills. I can't remember their name, but they really helped me.

It seems I do not have the hot flashes in the evening time! How odd is that? Nighttime, Breakfast and most of the afternoon I flash hot like a lighthouse perhaps ever hour a hot heat 'flash lasting for me about 1min 30 seconds (So far it is not so bad Ladies of this age!!) another 24hr BP test and Fasting blood tests this week but I feel pretty well in the main. But all these blood tests make me windy but they should confirm prerimenaopause I guess

Thanks everyone, I will try some of your suggestions but at present I am coping and saving a fortune on winter fuel costs!! I am still a bit concerned about my blood pressure readings as is at stupid highs 189/95 to lows of 118/73 within an hour! but I have to return my monitor and see my GP on Tuesday, I feel great "Should I renew my passport or not?????"
