Hi there I went to church today and everyone told me I looked pale and then I went to my parents for tea and before I had tea I was all bloated when I got home I got this feeling I needed to pass wind but had terrible diaoherrea and now I have awful cramping pain on left hand side of my stomach I made the mistake of googling and I got frightened I have a small bowel obstruction. I am not sure what this is but very painful logic tells me that as the colon is a muscle I should take a diazepam to relax muscles and have an early night

Someone recommended Buscopan to you on one of your posts the other day, did you purchase any?

It is good for tummy cramps.
Gordie, I wouldn't relax your bowel any more, not after diarrhoea - others may think differently, I am no expert. I get those pains from time to time and a loose stomach, it's usually something I ate or drank causing the wind. It doesn't sound abnormal, just sore.
Buscopan's the stuff. I swear by it. You can buy it over the counter.
...that was me, Mamya.
So it was.
gordie--After all your problems of last week and now this there is only one answer and that is to go to your doctor in the morning.
Could be diverticulitis . I had that a few years ago and had similar symptoms. Absolutely go to you dr. urgently.
I have had this three times over the past forty years. The pain from a small bowel obstruction is indescribable - it comes in waves. Disappears for a bit then comes back with a vengeance. The last time it happened was after eating a bag of salted nuts and clearly one or more had got stuck. The pain was so bad that I took a taxi to Casualty. They pumped me full of morphine but to no avail. I could scarcely speak, but managed to gasp the word 'Buscopan'. The doctor agreed and gave me an injection of that (it is normally available in tablet form). Instant relief. At about four in the morning I felt the urge so toddled off to the toilet where the world and his wife came away. By nine o'clock I was considered fit enough to be discharged and was back at work the next day. Am very wary of nuts, though.
