Different supporting insoles can sometimes help in addition to rest,as you say.

Thanks Chris, have printed all that and I think it is time to see the doctor.

hello tamaris

i fully sympathise with you, i had this condition about four years ago and it was excruciating for me

my doctor advised buying gel-heels, so i purchased a number of them to keep in all my footwear - in time the condition was cured (i still have gel-heels in my work boots)

i hope you can get yourself sorted swiftly
wearing crocs sorted mine.
Just wearing decent shoes can help the ones I started to wear had a decent instep. A friend of mine went to 'Foot Solutions' in our city centre and had insoles made to suit his feet which was costly but he is now fine.
After six months on crutches I went to a sports injury specialist. Two visits - £80 - cured.
I had injections; physio; insoles and home exercises which included picking up marbles with your toes and putting a length of ribbon on the floor and scrunching it up sideways. It takes time and rest as well and I don't think that there is a quick fix. I used the blue heel supports from Boots as recommended about £22 per pair and they certainly helped. I still ensure that any shoes I buy have a good supportive 'spongey' sole. Good luck and be patient

Finally went to the docs today, but she only could confirm what I said I thought I had and she said it could take up to a year to get better, and they did not know how you got it. She did not offer me anything, so I asked for pain killers. I said I had taken Ibuforan and it had hardly touched the pain, so she has given me Naproxen and told me to rest, it is almost impossible to rest.
First time, those toner trainers with the curved sole worked wonders as they helped to stretch the muscle, that and exercises such as heel drops off a stair. Most recently I had some hydrotherapy exercises, rolling a special dumbbell under my foot and stretching my calf muscles and tendons and some special insoles from podiatry.
