Employment Ended But Treated Like A Bad Person

Last Thur at the end of my day, HR and the manager said they decided to give me 7 days notice as I still on probation period. They said "you don't need to come back tomorrow if you don't want to and it was up to me. Next week I will be still employed by them but not in their premises, they still pay me, but on need to come to work. I was very shock because not long ago the Department Head have a chat with me discussing about my future roles. That was completely out of the blue, I was upset. Right after I went to my colleague to seek some support. Came back to my desk, the manager said I should leave, I said I need to wait for my friend and walk away and avoid talking to her. (she is not a nice manager at all, during the time of my work she always belittled me) In fact, I also need to sit down to compose myself and wait for my friend. The manager said if I need to wait for my friend wait in the security area. Then, the IT manager came and said because what was happened (given 7 days notices to end employment) and I was upset, I need to leave the office now as the Manager required and he escorted to leave the premises. It was awful. I just upset and a bit tearful that is, never rude, never raised my voice at the whole time. Next day I tried to come to the office to pack up my belongings but my access card had been blocked that I have to wait in the security area, no one in the security knew why my card had been blocked. They said it never happen before. Oh, another horrible time, what other colleagues thought about me while waiting in the security point for an hour. What a blow to my reputation. From the first day to the last day at this company I worked hard, always friendly, helpful, doing over time voluntarily. I just a 5’ tall small woman and never raise my voice, what part of me made them think I would damage anything. End up I need to wait in the security area for more than an hour and the Head of Department escorted me to pick up my things. I couldn’t have chance to say good-bye to everyone like normal last day. The whole time it created emotional and reputation damages to me. According to the meeting with HR I still employed on Thursday and Friday at that Company location. If they had stop my access card why telling me that I could come back on Friday. Shouldn’t they tell me if I come on Friday to pick up my stuff I would be escorted so I could avoid being treated like a bad person. Where is the good will here? They are a charity organization I just don’t why they treat people like that. Another authority I could file a complaint? Or this is just normal when employment ended which not worth to make a complaint. So hurt on top of employment being ended.

I think you have to put it down to one of life's bad experiences and move on.

Unfortunately it is often the case that you have to leave that way and access is blocked, as employees who become upset with their employer could cause damage to the company. it is not necessarily a personal matter, but company policy to protect their interests.

Honestly I wish people wouldnt give "advice" like this - the question wasnt: "please can a walk-in to this thread make up reasons why my employer could have behaved like a total crop-head ? "
Mokino wanted advice. M - I am sorry you were treated like this. People summarily dismissed do erase computers on their way out. Fran O'Neill did this at Booth Hall in 1990. caused chaos.
I was given the wrong pay packet for casual work in 1968 aged 16. He thought I was my brother aged 18 and so entitled to more for the same work. and when I returned the pay packet and was given a sealed envelope, the pay clerk said 'Stop!' so being a good child I did. He counted my returned pay packet in front of me and then said 'you can go' - and for fifty years I have regretted not saying to him; " Stop!" counting out the new wages in front of him and then saying .......[ it was after all his mistake]. I mercilessly kicked other pay depts around when they made innocent mistakes for fifty years after that. Treatment like that marks you.

as far as I know - you are not in employement with that firm for two years and so have virtually no rights or come-backs at all. I am pretty sure that you do not come into the category of 'automatically unfair' dismissals
If you had been employed for two years, ( or one year if you were employed before 2012) you almost certainly would have fallen into the Johnson Exclusion area ( Addis v gramophone 1909 - you cant claim for damages for the way in which you were discharged ) and been barred from a claim

Sounds to me like you are lucky to be out of that place, with those people.
It may be painful at the moment, but when you have settled into better employment (which you will) you will see it differently.
They are probably acting the way they are because of previous people's actions, not because they have a problem with you.

And i honestly wish people wouldn't give advice like this - something that happened to your aunt brother's dog's owner 50 years ago does not really constitute legal advice.
There is no authority that you can go to to make a complaint. As indicated, this is standard practice amongst many sectors to either protect secure info or to prevent sabotage by *** off employees.
You have a better deal than if your employment ended, but you still had to work out your notice - in effect you are are getting paid while you have the free time to find another job

If what I being treated just normal, oh what a world. Don't know what to say. Thank you for all you guys reading my story and giving me advice, especially Peter Pedand. I will look at the cases you suggested. I must be honest, VHG seems suggest I have done something wrong, it wasn't nice.

companies have the right to escort you out of the building the moment your employment is terminated, for security reasons and so you do not cause damage, upset or offence as a result of being let go. it is not personal and you just have to get on with it - if you wish to contact people to say goodbye, you will have to do that on your own time. as for your reputation, you will have been given reasons why your employment ended and as long as you haven't been fired or disciplined, there is no negative stain on your employment record. it may have come as a shock, and you may have been told/hinted at something being different by someone, but within a probation period, employers can terminate you for all sorts of valid reasons. you will have to suck this one up to experience, dust yourself down and get job hunting asap......any gaps in your employment history will be more damaging than a probation period ending. it happened to me, my husband has experienced this too - it is just one of those things.
