Painful Knees

I've started getting really painful knees in the last week or two - they are painful especially climbing stairs. I know that being overweight isn't helping, but I am trying to rectify the situation with diet. The pain is sudden, and it feels like it's right under the kneecap. I've got an appointment to see a doctor, but not until next tuesday. I've had liver problems in the past and renal problems now, and am diabetic, so can anyone suggest anything to rub on my knees that isn't an antiflammatory?

I hope sqad is reading this and able to help you.
I also have very painful old arthritic knees and they are very noisy and click when I come down stairs, In fact, I sound as if I'm playing the castanets !

Hope you get the pain sorted out asap. xx
I don't see your problem with transdermal inflamatories, either Voltarol or Ibuprofen....they act locally ( on the knees) and are minimally absorbed into the system.
"anti-inflammatories"

Thanks janbee, I watched my mother getting gradually crippled with arthritis in her knees which if she had had it sorted out when she was a lot younger, her life would have been much easier. That is not going to happen to me!

Thank you Sqad for your advice and spelling correction! I'll try one of those tomorrow.
Also microwave heat bags when needed, though not if you've applied a rub ... I.e .. in conjunction with each other.
That should read ... microwave wheat bags! x
