Hi guys,

I quit smoking a month ago, finding it very difficult!  When do the munchies stop?  I've been eating like mad for the last month and think that this extra weight may be worse for my health than the cigs!

I was a big guy before I quit, but now!  Jeez!

I thought the patches stopped the munchies, unless it's just me?  Please help!!!

Try eating tic-tacs, a great substitute

Just tic-tacs?

Maybe that's where I've been going wrong!  I've been spending a fortune every day on cr@p feeling proud that I'm not smoking but feeling guilty eating !

Just crack one problem at a time, do not fall into the "overweight" is worse than Cigs delusion. Smoking is much much worse. Give yourself a chance to crack it, keep going the craving will stop, you've lasted a month so don't waste that. Once you've cracked it you can set about the weight issue and your lungs will be much more able to help you with exercise etc, stick at it.

Thanks mate, I'll try not to think like that, but it's not easy, can't help it.

Also put 5 somewhere every day that's a one pack a day habit. After a year it'll be 1800+ enough for a holiday, that's what you've been burning up to now, worse for a heavy smoker. put the money aside it helps.
It took about six months for mine to calm down!! I am still a few pounds heavier than when I smoked, but I feel better and because I can breathe better now I can actually exercise the weight off! Exercise does help actually, nothing vigorous, just do a bit of walking or swimming and appreciate all that fresh air you've got now! Apart from that keep munching- just go for fruit and other healthy stuff rather than sweets.
great advise from hodgey, it took 6 months also for me. i quit in Jan this year. i put on a 1.5 stones but feel better for not smoking. i have since started cycling running and generally feeling fit. it does get easier with time
