Still waiting from St Georges for Proff Thompson's decision on the aortic stent.
Having not heard from Epsom about my long awaited cardio version which was decided last August in ward and later advised in September follow up I chivvied them up at the behest of the clinical vascular nurse last Thursday.
Just got a phone from an arythmic nurse at Epsom sort of apologising for the delay and musing why I had not been dealt with sooner.
She told me I cardio version clinic 1st Tuesday every month at Epsom and twice a month at St Helier. Which did I prefer?
I said I don't care where it is done as both hospitals are equidistant (3 miles) but more importantly ASAP as it may hamper any surgical decisions that are being made today re major surgery.
"OK I will get on to the scheduling nurse at St Helier and get you in asap. Are you on rioxaban blood thinning because you could get a stroke after cardio version if not ?"
"Yes 25mg last at night before bed"
"With food or immediateley after?"
"No. My last meal would be 6.30-7.00pm"
"In that case I will have to delay your cardio version for at least 3-4 weeks because it is ineffective if not taken with or immediately after food"
I was never told that back in August from day 1 and this is the first I have heard of it. I manage to bleed like a stuck pig last Thursday when they took my cannular out so it caused some concern then and I had no reason to doubt it's efficacy by the amount of claret that soaked up the gauzes.
Not a happy bunny. More delays for stupid reasons.
Will update later on todays decision to operate at St Georges later. :-(
Retro, as Danny says one step forward one step back. Perhaps you should mention this when you get your phone call later on today, try to stay positive xx
