Sinus Pain
6 Answers
I have had three lots of antibiotics, each one stronger than the last, and still I have sinus pain(headache)!! It disappears when I start the course and re-appears about two weeks after the course is finished! Any ideas as to how I can prevent it re- occuring - it hurts!!! No other symptoms - just thick mucus trickling down the back of my throat and pressure in my head.

(I've had a problem that took three continuous courses of antibiotics to get it to clear up).
So if, say, the course of antibiotics that your doctor has been prescribing last for two weeks, you need to persuade him to prescribe four (or six) weeks of tablets in one go, so that the problem can fully clear.

Are you doing anything else? I get sinus fun and games on a regular basis. Before I go to the doc I use sterimar spray LOTS to mechanically flush junk away and Beconase to take down any tissue swelling. 8 times out of ten that fixes things, the tenth time I need an antibiotic. The one that works for me is the “no alcohol” one which is not a problem but it also plays havoc with my stomach so i try to avoid it.
"Sinus pain" is not necessarily associated with sinusitis and antibiotics are not necessarily the answer.
There are many conditions that could give you those symptoms and i would suggest that you either ask to consult an E.N.T surgeon or at least have X-Rays on your sinuses to exclude the diagnosis.
3 lots of antibiotics"each stronger than the last" is ridiculous.
