...Since posting almost six weeks ago, I am happy to report that Janet is responding well to her chemo sessions, two so far. She seems to be suffering little of the symptoms usually listed....no nausea or vomiting. Tiredness and of course she has lost her hair. BUT...there is a greater sadness in our family. About Easter time Janet's eldest daughter was diagnosed with a blocked bile duct, within a couple of weeks this became liver cancer. Her daughter is now in a special palliative care unit suffering terminal liver, stomach and panreatic cancer..shes 38 years old, non smoker, gym user, 5ft5 10st, super fit girl with a 7 year old daughter and a loving husband.....why her jeez........

janz - do you need anybody who has been through this to bounce against.....? there will be several of us who have been right through the minefield from start to the finish, whatever the eventual outcome. If you are 'interested' in such a dialogue, just shout....one or two of us may be ideal to sound out against, be it more info, a shoulder, elation,...

I am sorry to hear this - to quote my late mother "who said life was going to be fair?"

It must be a shock to the entire family - your wife and her daughter's husband and daughter will be in my thoughts.

There is no rhyme or reason to this dreadful disease and my heart goes out to you as a family.x
I`m so sorry to hear that, janzman. I have spend an awful lot of time in our local hospital cancer unit (linked to the Marsden) I just can`t understand why people are not asking "why". Why is this happening to so many people. I hope your wife goes on well and keeps strong.
Janzman, I am very sorry to hear this. This is a very unfair world we live in.

I’ll keep you in my thoughts.
I am so sorry to hear that. That is dreadful news for you all.

Times are tough enough for you already. I wish you strength. x
crap isnt it?

you may remember Fred Puli who had a similar course

Glad about the chemo - I am up to course 6 and feel absolutely crap ......

clearly 2016 is gonna get worse before it gets better
fingers crossed...
Oh no, that's too awful.
erm SJ is there any point in asking why ?
I certainly havent had a good answer....
PP - I think there is. Sorry to digress
I am so very sorry to read this, Janzman......always hoping to hear good news of your wife......never expected something like this......my heart goes out to you all.....
Much love....Gx
Oh, so sorry janzman, that is so sad
Oh my word that's terrible. Nothing I can say will make things any better. So so sorry. x
I agree with the sentiments above.....so cruel and especially when it comes to the next generation or their children.......

I suspect you have a wee way to voyage over Janet's sessions - good luck.

Did you look at ice-baths before her chemos for her hair, 45 mins of hell, apparently, but it worked for a friend of mine with Stage 3 breast (and lympho) - and she said that keeping her hair, though it lost its sheen, was ever so important - I guess one of those needed 'wins' en route.....
Sometimes there's just no accounting for this dreadful, hateful disease. My sincere best wishes to you & your family, janzman.
Janzman, I'm very sorry about Janet's daughter. It's terrible that this happens to some of the best people. Good news that Janet is coping with the chemo, but what terrible news to go with it.
Life isn't fair but some do seem to have to bear more than many others. I am pleased the chemo is going well so far but sorry for the awful news you have to now deal with with regards to Janet's daughter.
Sorry I don't know what else to say but wanted to acknowledge your post x
