My Daughter Had A Lung Operation Two Weeks

ago and had the drain taken out and stiched..the nurse took the stitches out on Thursday and now around the scab it is turning very red and looks like it is turning nasty ? should I contact the doctor tomorrow? thankyou Brenda xx

No harm in giving them a ring. Wounds often go red as they are healing.

Probably a stitch abscess......no big deal......leave it a couple of days and it may burst. If you can see the stitch, just pull it out with tweezers.

the stitches are out ..but there was a scab over them so the nurse had to split it open to take them out. the rest of the scab has dropped off..this is where it is all greeny yellow .....thankyou again xx

I am not talking about a skin stitch, I am referring to a subcutaneous stitch ( one beneath the skin.)

I think red is ok but greeney yellow - no I would gently clean out the wound and apply some antiseptic cream then phone the doc first thing tomorrow as she may need antibiotics. I'm not a healthcare professional,just saying what I would do personally

sent that by mistake too early. I just don't know what to think.. instead of getting better she seems to be worse now then when she came home .... I know we all have different pain thresholds and that but she is still saying she has a lot of pain in her back and sometimes had trouble to breath again... going to phone her doctor and just hope he will see her to put my mind at rest as well as hers.......we are due to fly out to Gibraltar on Tuesday for a wedding .... but the closer it gets the more I worry we will not be able to leave her now .....
