A platypus swollen look....suddenly came on.......after a nap - and sore, apparently. Can't remember biting the bottom lip

Shouldn`t be a problem if the person can still breathe. You might want to get some Piriton in case the same thing happens in the future.

no problem with breathing, bottom lip just looking swollen and about a half larger than normal, visual estimate.....

Sounds like herpes simplex or cold sore as we know it. Have you kissed anyone recently or shared a cup with someone recently?
