terrible cough...cough so much I was sick or urged every time.. and felt really poorly....went to doctors last friday after nearly two weeks and he said I have bronchitis....gave me a script for antibiotics and said to get them if i felt no better over the weekend....I do not feel so poorly now but still havent got any better. And everyone says I sound terrible ... again like you do with a heavy cold.. I didnt get the antibiotics as I thought it would go if I left it... but now wondering if I should get them tomorrow and start taking them or just leave it a bit longer to see if I will get over it by myself.?

No Baldric I dont think I know better but if the doctor had said then start taking them now I would have done but he said leave it and see how you are after the weekend... which I have..plus a bit longer.. I really didnt want to take antibiotics if I could do without them....that was why I was asking if now is the time or should I wait longer?

I would get them today and take them now.
I'd eat plenty of yoghurt to sooth the tummy along the way, like half a pot each time you take them, and drink plenty of water in between. Have warm water from the kettle if its a bit chilly where you are, you don't want to be cooling the body too much when you're feeling poorly.
You'll start to feel so much better by Sunday and be pleased you took them, its a hard fight for your body without, and like others have said, they are not prescribed lightly.

You've probably sorted this now, but I think you are wise to question the need for antibiotics. My Dad has bladder infections and antibiotics no longer work on him. I can't think of much worse than being stuck with an infection like that. A ton of vitamin C can work wonders, but if you were coughing up yellow or green sputum then that's an infection, and you need antibiotics. If it's a tickly cough that makes you sick, chances are it's viral and antibiotics won't help. I've had this too, and taken them, and not taken them, and try really hard to use them sparingly if possible!
