Cooking In The Dark.

Not that I use it much but the bulb has gone in my oven. Inherited Cannon Harmony....and I can't get the bulb cover off.....

I've googled and I can.....buy a gadget to grip the cover.....I think it's too firmly stuck for that.......use a hammer and a piece of wood to knock it the opposite way first.....not sure about that.....☺.....a chain wrench for oil filters .....could that do it?........or WD-40.....

I'd give the WD-40 a try but how long will the smell linger?

Does anyone have a tried and tested method for this problem?

Is it getting a grip on the cover that is the problem. If so try wearing a rubber glove. Try this link

Thanks, Donny...but it's not the grip......I can do that and I have very strong hands......it's just so stuck fast that I can't turn it.....x

I assume you have tried turning it both ways, just in case.

I have, Donny....and scraping around it with a pointed knife......pushed the back plate of the oven a little too in case it was sticking to that.....it's just jammed fast....

I'll be buying a new cooker like folk who buy a new car when the ash tray's full.... :-(

Invest in a head torch and just give up on trying to change the bulb. xx

Do you or one of your friends have a lid remover. The adjustable ones that fit all.

I tell you....if I ever get a new bulb in it'll light the whole house.....the cover is shining and spotless now from my efforts.....and I'm so hot I could bake a potato ..... x

Nope......lid remover tried.....also the garlic press which fitted too.....but it doesn't want to move.....but a big thanks for your ideas.....

Will have a rest.....but was wondering if I got the oven really hot then let it cool enough to handle would that maybe do it.....I can but try.....x

Heat would make it expand and tighten....

Can you not park so that your car headlights illuminate the oven interior?
