Are There Medical Treatment Barriers !

Did you know it is nearly impossible to get admitted to hospital nowadays. !
Are you over 80-85 ? Don't bother even ringing !
Unless you have severe heart problems. Don't bother !. At best you may get to The Assessment Ward for a couple of days and and see a junior doctor. Who may be be good at removing splinters.

They usually tell you to go to you GP and wait many months for a hospital
appointment.

You can try going private which is quicker but that's not much better medically .After they have parted you from your money, which can be £thousands they may admit they can't do anything.

I certainly can't complain about the service.I recently had a TIA while out dining at the local pub,the paramedics arrived within 10 min and 40 minutes after that I was on the ward being examined by the stroke team.Excellent service all round.

Forgot to add that I'm no spring chicken being 70 next month.

No problem here.When I got a bad chest infection I was admitted to hospital straight away.I

When my dad was waiting for a couple of operations over the last few years (he's in his late 70s) he was convinced that the long waiting time was in the hope that he'd die before he used valuable resources.
When he did finally have those operations he received very good care.

Most of those replying seem not to be over 80-85 years of age, which I think is modeller's crucial point.

My grandmother had a knee op at 83.

I know a woman over 90 who had a hip replacement and received excellent care. Also, another over 90 who had treatment for breast cancer. Know lots of people over 80 (including my husband) who have been treated in hospital. I don't really understand the post because, unless you are an emergency, you go through your GP for a hospital referral. That's how things work. The NHS does seem to be a bit of a lottery though. I've been lucky and have always had excellent treatment and I'm not young.
