Can The Contraceptive Pill Cause Heart Palpitations?

My daughter has taken 5 contraceptive pills to start the process of IVF.

She started to get a racing heart beat on the 2nd day which has continued. Coincidentally she went through a very anxious day at work at the same time and although the cause of the anxiousness has been resolved, she still has the heightened heart rate.

She rang the clinic this morning and the nurse said she would speak to the doctor today but she, (the nurse) was concerned that my daughter might lose the funding as she is 35 in October if the whole cycle has to be started again, after her 35th birthday.

Any thoughts?

I cannot convince myself that her palpitations ( tachycardia) have anything to do with the contraceptive pill.
However, the increased pulse rate does need some medical advice as there are many causes.
You will have to wait until the Dr. calls back.

Thank you, sqad. Do you know if the fact that she has started the process before she is 35 would mean she can continue with the funded process?

The funding rules will be specific to the local clinical commissioning group. (See "IVF on the NHS" here: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/ivf/availability/ ). So there's no universal answer to your question; your daughter would have to find out what the CCG has to say on the matter.

It’s ok, Chris. They have changed her tablets and she has to start injections as soon as she gets her new ones. So she’s still within the cutoff age.
