Our younger son is on work furlough and lives on his own. He is meeting my wife for an hours walk (allowed exercise) in our local park.
I remarked to my wife that we now know what it was like for the residents of Berlin to be separated, by a wall, from loved ones for longer. Not even a hug and maintaining a safe distance. :-(

What age is elderly these days? It used to be 65 but I don't think that's the case anymore given that middle age now begins at 60.

They can suggest it but they can't make you...its unenforceable in the Uk. Being older and having co morbidities are additional risk factors but so, it seems, are being male, being obese (problems with ventilation) and also as I understand some ethnicities. I do see the point though...while there is no vaccine then isolation is the safest route. Being in a normally grubby house (and garden) with things like food and mail coming in should be enough to provide challenges to the immune system to keep it healthy but in any event I don't think that is relevant as we have no antibodies to COVID unless we have met it.
Totally agree, nick. I am saying that, as to move to a residential home for being "elderly" you need to be 65. But I don't know anyone of that age (excluding disabilities, which is separate anyway) that is "old and frail" by then. At the same time, retirement age is raised to 67.
Your guess is as good as mine!
