Dental Implants

I have recently lost two crowns which cannot be replaced, so I have had a consultation for two implants.

The cost I have been quoted including extraction of existing roots, checks and the actual procedure, is almost £5,000 for the two teeth.

I have no idea if that is expensive or not - does anyone have experience in this area and can advise me?

I have recently had a similar quote for a similar procedure, sounds about right to me.
I’m on my third course of amoxicillin for toothache due to a cracked root under some bridgework, which keeps getting infected. It’s just putting off the inevitable but hopefully will do the trick until I’ve had my second anti COVID jab and I feel more confident to have the procedure done.

The nhs don’t do implants except under exceptional circumstances.

If and when we are allowed to travel it can be cheaper if you're prepared to go to another part of the country, sometimes half the price.

Depending on where the missing teeth are, one option would be to have one implant with an attached bridge to replace the second tooth.

That price sounds about right to me .... it's roughly £2k per tooth, but that's a very rough guidance.

I got mine (about 5 yr ago) on groupon. Kid you not! Very happy with it! I think it was approx £1800

sounds about right andie - most of the people who fork out this amount of moolah are satisfied with the results

Andy - does depend on where your loss of teeth is -

ie - are the two teeth side by side

where are they - are at the back or front.

No matter implantation of teeth is very expensive but if you are not happy with dentures - worth every halfpenny and ?pain? Lol

I got mine done 2 years coming this April - ie 4 front teeth removal

new front 4 teeth "together)" - But your dentist needs to tell you if the bone graft/strength is strong enough to hold the implantation, if not - add another £1000.

Altogether I had to get the strengthening of bone graft plus the 4 teeth - around £6,000.

I do have a wee folder of what happened throughout the treatment and if you need more information - I can refer to my "file".

Here in Greece, 2,500 € for two implants and a three tooth bridge, all in.

broadly right. The man who used to do mine charged about £2200 for one all-inclusive; the one I see now charges about £1700 but bone grafting if needed would be extra. But you never know what the quality might be - ask friends or other dentists if you can.

They're much cheaper if you can get to places like Malta or Turkey (the man at the local chip shop reckons he can get a dozen done in Istanbul for the price of one here) but remember you might have to factor in the cost of repeat visits for post-op checkups... and maybe speak Turkish, though health tourism is inrceasingly common and so is speaking English.

And also - if you have any complaints/pains (after being to Turkey or Malta) the dentist won't be too well pleased to treat you here.

that's all very well, david small, until you realise you'll be living on yoghurt for the rest of your life because you've got nothing left to chomp with. I've needed eight so far and a couple more in prospect.

I have all my dental work carried out in Thailand, I've had a regular private dentist over there for about 18 years, the cost is a fraction of what you'd pay over here, I was quoted at £1000 an implant over there.
It would pay you to book a holiday for a month, have the work done and have a nice relaxing holiday in the sun and still have change from what you've been quoted here!

I want implants for my four front teeth. One of the crowns failed about 16 months ago and I had to have a denture, which I absolutely hate. I find it alien and it's makes me feel like an old hag.
I dread to think what the cost would be here so I'm seriously considering going abroad to have the work done. Two friends of mine went to Turkey and had a full set done for around £5000. The only thing that puts me off is this Covid business putting a spanner in the works with flights.
