Help!
Our three cats have taken a fancy to scratching my new cloth covered super armchair.
Cat repellent spray is £8.50 for 150ml, cheap at the price if it works!
What else can I use?
May hang a sign on the chair :-

Get yourself a water pistol and shoot them every time they do it. It's not cruel, and might teach them.

Knowing cats though, I don't hold out much hope. You may have to shut them out of the room overnight, if they will accept that.
Do you have a scratching post? If you do, try putting it near the armchair.
I used to use a water pistol...actually an adjustable plant mister...on caspar. Dopey cat thought it was a game and would come back for more.
I've heard citrus smells might work. Or lavender.
Or wrapping the chair in cling film...;)

Ah ha! Cling film! Now that's worth w try!
And I have a plant mister spray.
Many thanks :-)
Lion dung works.
Perhaps cover chair in old blanket when they are sharing room with you?
I think Patsy's is the only solution that would actually work
Either that or get rid of the chair.
You obviously don't watch the same TV channels that I do. The ad below seems to be on every few minutes when I'm watching. The stuff's ruddy expensive

but many users say that it works. (However cats don't work to a rule book, so there are some people who say that it makes no difference whatsoever. It might be worth a try though).

Alternatively, just adopt my own approach and let your cats do what they want. (They almost certainly will anyway!). After all, we humans are only guests in houses owned by cats, aren't we?
I don't have a cat, my neighbour does and she just loves to bypass their lovely garden furniture and come over and tear the living daylights out of a bench that was made especially for me, it has been suggested to me, citrus, squeeze and orange all over the bench - ants love that!! and leave the skins around it, didn't work, I watched the cat playing with the skins, I have tried ground white pepper and 'not on my lawn' but nothing deters the little monster - I also heard Lion dung works - might have to pay a visit to the zoo soon ;) I'm not a cat lover so I would be interested to see how you get along
Lion dung available from most large garen centres.

Thanks for the tips folks.
This is my new cloth covered super Dooper recliner and footrest and does everything except repel cats!
I've been sitting guard on it all day.
I will win!
I must win!
Nobody ever wins against a really determined cat, Theland ;-)

OK, OK, I'll negotiate :-)
Is it your cats I hear sniggering in the background?

;)
