It is a bit sore the day after you have it inserted, it feels like really bad period pain but after that you don't feel a thing and thats it for 5 years!! I have reccomended it to all my friends and a couple have tried it and say its really good too. Periods are more heavier now then when I was on the pill but its not really a problem. Go for it and good luck!!

Even though I've had no kids, the FP clinic fitted a coil - they tried three times but my body kept ejecting it. The other problem was while it was inside, my partner complained that the threads made his willie sore (he was circumcised). It would have been good if it had worked but the GP said if I kept rejecting the coils then maybe it wasn't for me.
There is another type of coil - Mirvena - or something like that. It actually contains hormones which make periods lighter.
I had a coil for 3 years. Eventually got it removed because I kept getting infections - it can make you more prone to infection. This is ok so long as you get it seen to quickly - otherwise it can lead to Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (and possible infertility)
By this time I was with a new partner who'd had a vasectomy so didn't need it any more.
The fitting is painful - supposedly like the contractions you experience when you give birth (which I have never experienced!!!) The womb goes into spasm - but this lasts a very short time.
If you are going to go for it. Take some painkillers just before going in - so they'll have had time to take effect.
I am now 31 so was well under 30 when I had it fitted - never regretted it at all - just watch out for infections.
me and my sister had the same problem, im 25 and have had a coil[and 2 children] and no problms, but when my sister 21 asked she was refused the same with a friend who doesnt have kids! i spose it ay be different with each doctor! hope u find something soon.x
p.s i would not advise the implanon fit-a small plastic tube inserted in arm-from personal experiance- i was constantly on my period and spoting for a year, then grudgingly the doctor took it out aftr telling me how x-pesensive they are. not2 mention the scar!
Have you thought about FAM? Only downside is you need willpower as for certain time of the month you have to use a condom or abstain.

ime if you do it properly it's better than the pill (i have 2 pill children!).
I used Persona for 5 years with my steady partner. It was great, no extra hormones to deal with. Only had to remember to do the test so in that respect it's like the pill, having to remember each morning. But you get into the habit.
But, I've just had to have an abortion, so it's not infallible, as nothing is.
Now I'm looking into alternatives and all of them scare me!
