Have you been diagnosed as needing a knee replacement? Perhaps you should wait and see what the hospital says on the subject and not jump the gun.
If required you would get it on the NHS
i have been diagnosed with needing a knee replacement, and am waiting to hear when it might happen, i was told it could be sometime this year or early next, its a long wait in NHS.
Our local Nuffield Hospital gives a 'guide price' of £16,305 but notes that "The final price may vary according to Consultant fees, prosthesis or drugs used and any pre-existing medical conditions which may alter your care pathway".
I've thought of going abroad for dental implants, davebro; what deters me is the need for the occasional follow-up appointment. I don't know if this applies to knees as well but my sister had several appointments before and after she got a new knee. Perhaps they could be done without?
>>> under the NHS you may well get an Indian surgeon anyway
In Ipswich it's exactly the same surgical team at the (private) Nuffield hospital as it is at the (NHS) Ipswich Hospital. Last year my friend and I both had the same minor op done. At the NHS hospital, I got it done for free and (apart from the obligatory fortnight's self-isolation due to Covid), straight away. My friend had to wait for several months for his private op though, which cost him about £9k.
My relative wasn't allowed to fly for at least 6 weeks after her knee replacement so bear that in mind if you are thinking of having the operation abroad.
