Tell Me About Your Pc/Laptop/Tablet/Phone

There was a time when I was keen to keep up with tech and gadgetry, replacing my PC every couple of years, same with my phone.
I don't know if it's because advancements in tech has slowed right down meaning older devices continue to keep up or if I've just lost interest or got old, but none of my PCs/laptops are less than 6 years old, my phone is 6 years old today and my iPad Pro is 5.

They are all working fine although the batteries don't last as long as they did. I have no enthusiasm for shopping for replacements as what I have does everything I want to do.

Have you got the latest gadget with all the bells and whistles or an old workhorse?

Old workhorse. My daughter keeps telling me I should upgrade but I am quite satisfied with what I have.

When I first had a 'proper' PC, a Windows 3.1, it had to be replaced after a couple of years because it became incapable of running the latest software. That doesn't seem to be an issue these days. Not for everyday usage, anyway

Same as you Barry - all "old" stuff. Recently replaced the battery in my mobile phone. Laptop runs off the mains.

I've replaced batteries before but it can be tricky. I miss my LG with the removable battery.

Mine's an LG Nexus - bit tricky replacing the battery, chipped a bit off the case & 10 minute screws to negotiate. "New" battery is better but not as new (bloody ebay!).

Yes, it is buying a good battery that is the biggest problem for me, so many rubbish fakes that could be dangerous.

I don't have a smartphone or a laptop or an iPad, tablet or anything apart from my old PC.
To be honest with you, I've managed so far without anything else, well apart from an old mobile phone which I take out with me if I remember!

Pointless having stuff you neither want nor need, Barsel. I admit to loving a smartphone and being able to compare prices of big ticket items when I'm out and about.
It's also got me out of trouble when my satnav has packed up miles from home.

Well, if the day ever dawns when I say the words,' Oh, I wish I had a smartphone', then I might consider buying one, but I think my brain is too old to be able to work out how to use one. :-)

I work in IT and I don't change anything until it becomes difficult to use for what I need or it stops working. I have 2 Lenovo T410 lap tops running W10 and Galaxy S8. The latter is new because I dropped the last one (also a GS8) and the screen went after about 6 months of using it with a cracked screen.

The opposite of me is my best mate who has the latest everything and no clue how to use it! As we say "all the gear and no idea" - He did some deal and got an apple watch last week, guess who had to set that up for him! He's now got a normal watch on one wrist and an apple watch on the other.

That's funny about the Apple watch - is he in to fitness? I've never been tempted by those watches

Always use something until it breaks down. Don't recall how old things are, but PC is one made by me and at least a decade old, phone more recent as it needed replacing, maybe 2 to 3 years old, tablet about 4 years, and not latest model.

Like you I seem to lose enthusiasm for tech as each year passes but I don’t want to become a dinosaur so I will upgrade my iPhone every 3 or so years.

I’m just about to collect a new car. We’ll not brand new but new enough ti make me a bit nervous about working out it’s bells and whistles!

My Samsung tablet is about 6-7 years old...and has been acting up the past 6 months or so. It's s discontinued model...I'd probably look for a refurbished one.
My phone is a galaxy a10, about 4 years old. I just had a look on Amazon...still available with new ones costing more than I paid for it.
I also have a little Fire tablet that I bought as backup years ago. It's a piece of ****. Horrible is the word for it.

My galaxy S10 is about 2 years old and I'm happy with it so not looking to upgrade yet.

My galaxy tab S6 lite is about 18 months old and I'm happy with that as well.

My Dell PC is around 10 years old. I use it but not as often as I used to since getting tablets and smart phones.

We don’t have a PC, can’t remember how long ago we got rid of it.
We have an Apple laptop which is only used occasionally, mainly if something needs printing off.
We each have an iPad, mine is two weeks old, his is about five or six years old. My old one couldn’t do enough updates to sustain certain things, one of which was my online sainsbury shop, and other things regularly crashed.
We both have iPhones, as do the rest of the family so we can all FaceTime. I wouldn’t be without my iPhone, it’s a fair few years old but does all I want of it. His is newer but he uses his for more stuff than me.

No and I don't intend to. Everything is moving too fast these days. People want ,want,want. It's like the 60s all over again. We must keep up with the Jones. No-one seems to sit back and relax anymore .

Forgot to mention that I've also got a Mi Fit band for step counter, heart rate and sleep monitoring.
