I have been studying St. Brigid. A tradition from Tipperary...a place Ummmm loved so this reminded me of her and how much she is missed is that we must place a scarf outside tonight so Brigid can touch it as she passes. The scarf is then kept until it's needed to cure a headache or a sore throat.
Dave is looking at me sideways and won't do the same with his trouser belt so it can protect him on a fishing trip. I will remedy that when he is asleep.
did she found the Bridgettines? - or another Bridget
Big founder of monasteries - for men or women. I read that women had monasteries as well as convents....
She did found unisex monasteries, PP. A wild woman and a feminist.
Bridgittines? Not sure. She was Swedish I think or Sweden adopted her but I'll get round to that bit.
My mum was a catholic, I don't know much about religion but she had to pick a saint at some point.
She chose Winifred, mum told me that she had been beheaded and came back to life. My mum was un-mum like.
I looked up Theresa and found this amusing paragraph about her parents.
"Louis and Zélie met in early 1858 and married on July 13 of that same year .... At first they decided to live as brother and sister in a perpetual continence, but when a confessor discouraged them in this, they changed their lifestyle and had nine children."
Banish saints with Paracetamol
a head ache for the Pope, solved!
er not sure if it will make out
Worship of the Dead ( dia del los muertos) has become stronger and not less. PERHAPS because the Celts already had Valhalla and heaven just was Valhalla and added angels and archangels.....
I have a couple of recipes ummmm posted in response to some foodie questions I asked. I think of her every time I get my recipe folder out, and times in between too, she was a great girl and someone I’d love to have met in real life.
I too have wondered how Ginge and the family are doing.
We were planning to meet and she wanted meet her Mum who lives near me at the coast and is my age. She thought we would get on. I'm so sorry it didn't happen.
